Bayroute, BKC

Bayroute BKC takes its inspiration from the riad, the traditional courtyard house of Marrakech, built inward rather than outward, layered with texture, and designed to feel lived in rather than performed.

White and grey marble runs underfoot in a checkerboard pattern, grounding a room built almost entirely from warm, handworked materials. Carved timber screens and ornate fretwork panel the walls and bar front, catching light from a procession of paper lanterns suspended beneath an exposed wood beam ceiling. Terracotta and rust velvet seating, paired with richly patterned upholstery, sits low against textured plaster walls, while a Persian rug hung as a tapestry and a cluster of decorative plates bring the room closer to a private home than a restaurant.

The bar anchors one end of the space, its shelves lined in brass and timber, deep enough to feel like the heart of the house rather than a service counter. Throughout, the detailing leans handcrafted and dense, carved wood, woven textiles, hammered metal sconces, each piece chosen to build the sense of a room that has been gathered over time rather than installed all at once.

Where other Bayroute outlets lean theatrical or coastal, BKC stays close to the ground, intimate, textured, and unmistakably homey, a Marrakech riad reimagined in the middle of Mumbai's business district.
